Beverage Manager

Work Hours: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Defined as elegant yet approachable dining through the passion and commitment of a team of award-winning chefs, renowned managers and wine directors, two exciting new restaurants housed in Union Square, are currently conducting a nationwide search for a talented Beverage Manager. Located at the crossroads of Park Avenue South and 19th Street, these restaurant concepts will offer two unique experiences built on a foundation of shared values and sensibilities.

Believing that the soul of a great restaurant is found in the kitchen, both venues will feature menus showcasing high quality, fresh product at its seasonal best. With the goal of offering inspired guest experiences, two special and unique beverage programs will be a primary focus to complement the menu offerings. An elegant seafood restaurant will feature a sleek and spacious bar/lounge to become one of the area’s premier destinations for a craft cocktail or glass of wine. An all-day Italian concept will feature a cozy and comfortable space offering a beverage selection blending both traditional Italian offerings with contemporary new world creations.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Beverage Manager will curate, develop, oversee, and manage the wine programs, while working closely with the Head Bartender to support the creation and delivery of a unique and elevated beverage guest experience that is in harmony with the kitchens’ food programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day beverage operations of the restaurant
  • Serves as an educator, as well as an inspirational, committed, and responsible leader to the restaurant’s front-of-house teams
  • Prepares for and inspires staff to deliver a memorable beverage experience
  • Displays a passion for and about wine and the industry
  • Delivers superior customer service through effective training and education
  • Leads by example by delivering superior consistent customer service and hospitality
  • Maximizes resources and budget by maintaining and monitoring inventory and expenses
  • Develops a strong rapport with agents and wineries
  • Drives positive results and aligns with business goals
  • Under the direction of the Restaurant Director, initiates and executes special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
  • Holds a high-level, professionally recognized Sommelier certification from WSET, CMS, ISG or other valued equivalent
  • Related university degree or a combination of education and experience
  • Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best-in-class outcomes to perpetuate growth in a premium service environment
  • Highly committed to a premium level of quality
  • Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions
  • A solutions-provider committed to a vision of service to create an ultimate guest experience
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Superior conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Comfortable with dealing with media, public speaking, and VIP guests
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
